A live selfie with the app’s camera, which we compare with your photos. If it matches, your profile carries the verified badge.

Didn’t work? You have 2 days to fix it
If the photo cannot verify you, the app tells you why and you have 2 days to fix it and try again. Meanwhile your account keeps working as usual: chat, calls and Discovery.
After the 2 days
After 2 days without verifying, your account is paused
Until you verify you cannot send, receive or read messages, or make or take calls, and you leave Discovery.
No chat
No calls
Out of Discovery
Once you verify
Everything is back, instantly
As soon as your verification is approved the hold lifts: your chats, your calls and Discovery, just as before.
Your account is paused
Verify your account to chat again: send and receive messages, and make voice and video calls. It takes less than a minute.

What a paused account sees in the app after the 2 days
What others see
If someone tries to message or call a paused account, the app tells them plainly, instead of leaving them waiting for a reply.
This person isn’t available
Their account is paused until they verify. You can message and call them once they do.
If verification fails
The app tells you why (for example, that your main photo does not show your face clearly) and you have 2 days to try again. Meanwhile you chat and call as usual; only likes, hearts and friend requests wait.

Your selfie is not published
The final photo does not appear on your profile and nobody else sees it. It stays on our own server, and no video is recorded.

Every profile and every photo on Nuvia carries marks the person doesn’t set: Nuvia does. Check them before you like, before you keep chatting and, above all, before you meet.

3Made with AI?
This is how they look in the app: the seal next to the name and, on every photo, the AI mark at the bottom left and the verification mark at the bottom right.
1Camila, 28
Blue seal next to the name
Verified profile
What it means
This person proved with their camera, live, that they are the one in their main photo.
How Nuvia decides it
The app asks them to turn their head and smile or blink in an order nobody knows beforehand, takes the photo itself (never from the gallery) and we compare it with their main photo using face recognition, on our own servers.
What to do
It’s a good sign, not a certificate of good intentions: still look after your data and your money. If they delete all their verified photos, they lose the seal.
2VerifiedUnverified
On every photo, bottom right
Verified or unverified photo
What it means
“Verified”: the same person who verified with the camera is in that photo. “Unverified”: we didn’t recognise them in it, or the person hasn’t verified yet.
How Nuvia decides it
We compare each photo with the verification, one by one. Tap the mark in the app and it tells you why.
What to do
An “Unverified” photo may be a group shot, from far away or old… or someone else. Don’t go by that photo: look at the verified ones and ask for a video call.
3With AINo AI
On every photo, bottom left
AI: photo made or edited with artificial intelligence
What it means
The filled, coloured ✨ says that photo is made or retouched with AI. The dark, outlined ✨ says it isn’t marked as AI.
How Nuvia decides it
It gets marked in three ways: whoever uploaded it says so; the file itself says so (ChatGPT, Gemini, Firefly, Meta AI, Midjourney and others leave that signature); or Nuvia’s analysis finds signs of AI in the image. The one Nuvia sets can’t be removed by the person.
What to do
An AI photo can look more perfect than the real person. Enjoy it, but don’t fall for it: look for their verified photos and meet them on a video call. And “No AI” is no guarantee: a heavily edited or re-sent photo can lose its signature.
Watch out for scams
Don’t fall in love with a photo
Romance scams start with a perfect photo and a lovely story. These are the signs to slow down:
A profile without the blue seal, or photos that are “Unverified” and AI.
Asks you for money, top-ups, gifts or “help” with an emergency.
Wants to move fast to WhatsApp, Telegram or another app.
Avoids the video call or always has an excuse.
Sends you links to “invest”, win prizes or log in.
Your golden rules
Have a video call on Nuvia before the first date.
Never send money or your card or account details.
First date in a public place, or let Nuvia organise it somewhere safe.
If something feels off, block and report: a person reviews it within 24 h.

Verified
Live verification
You look at the camera, turn your head and smile or blink, in an order nobody knows beforehand. We compare your face with your main photo and, if it matches, the profile gets the badge and each photo is marked verified or not.

Nobody can message you unless the interest is mutual. You can block without warning, and whoever you block stops seeing you in Discovery immediately.

Report
A person reviews it within 24 h
Reporting is real
Every report is reviewed by a person within 24 hours, and a reported account can be paused meanwhile. We never tell anyone who reported them.
Not recorded
Calls that are never recorded
Voice and video calls travel encrypted from one phone to the other and are never recorded. During a video call, an automatic system detects nudity and covers that camera right away.
~2 km away
Your location, kept safe
We only use it while you use the app and with your permission. Others only see an approximate distance, never where you are.
Only on Nuvia
Your photos are yours
Photos and videos are checked as they are uploaded and do not get through if they show nudity. They are not shared outside the app or used in advertising unless you allow it; delete your account and they go with it.
If something is wrong
What happens when you report
Zero tolerance for offensive content and for anyone who harasses. A report does not sit in an inbox: it follows these steps.
1
You report in one tap
From their profile or from the chat. You can block at the same time, and we never say who reported them.
2
We pause if needed
If the case calls for it, the reported account is paused while we review it.
3
A person reviews it
Not a bot: someone on our team, within 24 hours.
4
We act
We remove the content and close the account of whoever breaks the rules.
Safety
For a first date
Verification tells you the person is real. The rest is up to you, at your own pace.
Look for the verified badge and for which photos say “Verified”.
Before meeting, have a video call in the app.
Meet somewhere public with people around.
Tell someone where you will be and who with.
Get there and back on your own the first time.
If something feels off, you owe no one an explanation.
